Habitual behaviour in the past

REMEMBER: to talk about habitual behaviour in the past we do it in different ways.

• used to - to talk about past habits and situations

                    I used to paint
                    We used to live in New York when I was a kid

• would - only to talk about past habits

                     My father would read me a tale before going to bed

• past simple -  in the same way as we use 'used to' or 'would'

                    I lived/used to live in New York when I was a kid
